Nintendo announces… Lego Game Boy

Nintendo made a console announcement on Thursday, but it wasn’t the one everyone expected: Lego and Nintendo are teaming up again, this time to remake the classic Game Boy console in Lego form. The set is scheduled to be released in October.

On Thursday, Nintendo posted a 15-second trailer on social media featuring close-ups of various Lego pieces, including the iconic purple buttons on the Game Boy controller and the Lego directional pad. The clip is accompanied by music from Game Boy.

Naturally, the comments section and quote posts on the The last few weeks in particular have been full of leaks, including full 3D mockups of the console. Nintendo has confirmed that it is producing another console, expected to launch later this year, but has not said anything else about what’s to come.

How much will a Lego Game Boy set cost? The tiny video teaser doesn’t say that. Since almost 10 months have passed since the set’s stated release date, it may be some time before more information becomes available.
