Have you received your Metroid Prime 4 pre-order since it was announced? You may want to check this again as Amazon seems to have started canceling orders

Metroid Prime 4 is scheduled for release later this year, and now it looks like Amazon has started canceling customer orders.

If you can believe it, it will be eight years since Metroid Prime 4 was released later this year and six years since work on the game resumed at Retro Studios. Nintendo finally revealed it again last June, putting “Beyond” as a subtitle and even showing off some gameplay for the first time. Despite the long wait, I imagine some of you have been pre-ordering the game since it was first announced. However, if you did it through Amazon, you may want to check if you still have your order, as many online users have reported that their pre-orders have been canceled.

In the post on Metroid subreddita group of commenters reported that their Amazon pre-orders had been canceled, with many of them noting that pre-order discounts had been applied to them. Considering that Amazon doesn’t actually offer such deals on video game pre-orders right now, it’s no surprise that the company would want to withdraw these offers. Moreover, it’s always possible that Nintendo will release Metroid Prime 4 for another $70, just like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

One user over It will reset shared the email notification they received about the order cancellation, in which Amazon explained that it was due to “lack of availability.” This, of course, led some people to joke (and others not so jokingly) to assume that this would be a Switch 2 exclusive, but Breath of the Wild also came out on Wii U, so it would be quite surprising to move from Nintendo – not to mention it literally published the list of games coming to Nintendo Switch in 2025which would look bad if there was a sudden change (pardon the pun). Either way, definitely annoying for those who had the discount, but what are you going to do! At least that’s what I imagine, I probably won’t buy it from Amazon.
