Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is launching a novel Wonder Pick event today, January 7, but strangely enough it hasn’t announced that it has added missions with rewards or items to the store.
However, data miners have already discovered everything that will appear on the TCG digital platform in the near future, so details about what will appear and when are already available.
The Wonder Picking portion of the Charmander and Squirtle Wonder Pick event is the only aspect currently available, but as reported Pokémon Zonedatamining confirms that the rest will arrive tomorrow, January 8. For the first time, developer Creatures Inc. postponed the release date of the event.
Everything else, however, is relatively standard. The Wonder Pick event will allow players to access free bonuses to earn Wonder Hourglasses, Blastoise Event Shop Tickets, and Charmander and Squirtle cards, including two novel promotional versions.
Missions will encourage players to complete all of the above by rewarding players with tickets in the Event Shop for three, four, and five Wonder Picking times and for collecting one Squirtle and one Charmander.
Part 2 of the Wonder Pick event will begin a week later on January 15, and will offer tickets in the Event Shop for selecting Wonders one to six times and for collecting five and 10 Fire cards and five and 10 Water cards.
Blastoise Event Shop tickets can, not surprisingly, be used to purchase Blastoise-themed items in the store. The first part of the event will feature Blue and Blastoise’s cover, Blue’s background, and Tiny Temple’s background.
Part 2 of the event will expand this offering to include Blue and Blastoise card sleeves, plus a board, a Blastoise coin, a Blastoise icon, and possibly ten lots of 50 Shinedust.
This event coincides somewhat with the Blastoise Drop event currently available in Single Player Battles, where players can challenge a variety of Blastoise-themed decks to win booster packs with novel promotional cards. There is also currently an ongoing player vs. player event on Mythical Island.
Pokémon TCG Pocket appeared on October 30 and became a hit for Creatures Inc. and The Pokémon Company, which grossed approximately $200 million in its first month with over 60 million downloads.
This huge amount of money comes as Pokémon TCG Pocket follows the standard model of mobile and free-to-play games, showering players with rewards in the first few days before they soon desiccated up, and spending real money is the only real way to relive that early thrill beyond occasional scenes like Mythical Island.
Completing Genetic Apex, the first card set that officially has 226 cards but also includes 60 sporadic cards with alternate art, is estimated to take players spending no money for about two years, while those looking to make it rain will be able to complete the collection after dropping around $1,500.
