Warning: Spoilers from Cyberpunk 2077 ahead.

Even if you decided to become Night City’s Johnny-no-mate, Cyberpunk 2077’s main story always has at least a few ending options you can throw at it when you end up sitting on a rooftop at the climax of the main story. That doesn’t stop one fan from deciding to add another to the mix, after devising an additional adventure for their V and Johnny Silverhand in the hour-long Machinima movie.

This project is the work of a cosplayer and virtual photographer who goes by the name Valerie Silverhand – in case you’re wondering which in-game character they like – who has long been a staple of the Cyberpunk community. Thanks to this work, they even managed to earn congratulations from the deputy game director, who is currently working at CD Projekt on the continuation of Cyberpunk.

Their fan video, titled Black Dog, was mocked by: nice trailer delayed last year, and has now been released in its entirety on YouTube. It’s approximately an hour long and was created via Machinima using assets from Cyberpunk, enhanced with mods and custom videos used to convey the original story.

It should also be noted that the movie apparently used AI voices to give lines to various characters from the base game – like Silverhand, Judy, Viktor Vektor, you know. Valerie Silverhand writes in a disclaimer at the beginning of the video – which also emphasizes that the project is not affiliated with or endorsed by CD Projekt itself – that “the AI voice tools were used solely for fan content purposes and not for any profit-making or with the intention of using voice actors.”

This might put you off watching fan videos, but at least they’re facing the fact so people can call it out themselves, given that this kind of exploit of AI is probably more of a moral gray area than using it to mimic VA voices in commercial projects, which is certainly an issue that could impact actors’ livelihoods.

Anyway, to avoid spoilers if you decide to continue watching, here’s a snippet of the film’s plot plan given at the beginning: “A year has passed since V broke into the Arasaka Corporation’s Digital Souls data fortress known as Mikoshi. rejecting the dicotomy offered by the rogue AI, Alt Cunningham, V, and Johnny Silverhand leave Mikoshi together in hopes of finding another solution. Then it all starts with V finding out about the “secret Arasaka cryogenic vault” where “Saburo Arasaka’s most private collection is said to be kept.”

As mentioned earlier, the Cyberpunk sequel’s co-director, Paweł Sasko, seems to have thoroughly enjoyed the film he tweeted “An extremely ambitious and elaborate project, I am very proud of you! Congratulations.” in response to Valerie Silverhand’s post on this topic.
