The PXN P5 is the latest attempt at a truly universal gaming controller

Published:

  • PXN P5 is the company’s latest universal controller project
  • It offers all kinds of high-tech gubbins and is compatible with everything from consoles to cars
  • But will it be what people need or want?

When it comes to controllers, I feel like mobile devices still don’t get the attention they deserve. It’s one of the biggest gaming platforms, after all, but outside of adaptable, clicky controllers, we rarely see much innovation. Especially with cross compatibility, which seems to be basically Bluetooth or nothing. The situation is different with the PXN P5 controller, or at least that’s what the manufacturer claims.

The P5 is marketed not only as a console and PC controller, but also as a controller for everything from Nintendo Switch to car systems and, yes, mobile systems too! Equipped with all the popular gubbins, such as dual hall-effect magnetic joysticks (whatever that means), it also offers customizable triggers whose sensitivity can be manually adjusted to suit your preferred playing style.

The P5 will be available via PXN and Amazon with a retail price of £29.99. It will be compatible with: PC, Mac, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, Android TV and Tesla.

Versatility

PXN is not an exact known quantity for us, which of course does not say anything against the quality of their products. However, the landscape of controllers that are compatible with mobile devices is challenging, even if I think those made exclusively for smartphones are somewhat lacking.

At the same time, I won’t complain that there are more options available. In fact, I think the only thing that’s confusing to me about this device is the fact that it’s cross-compatible with Tesla of all things. I guess there must be a subset of pretty hardcore gamers, eh?

In the meantime, though, if it’s going to get you intensely interested in gaming, maybe streaming is the way to go. And if so, you can check out our Wavo POD Streamer Set review to see what we think of this plain setup kit!
