Season 1 Marvel Rivals will be released later this week and will take two members of the Fantastic Four into a Marvel-inspired multiplayer hero shooter. Friday’s update also brings a long list of changes to almost every playable Marvel superhero and villain, including many much-needed fixes for characters like Hawkeye, Hela, and Thor.
Many of Marvel Rivals Balance adjustments in Season 1 involve more or less character health. For example, Hela had her health reduced to 250 because, according to the game developer, she is a “threat.” However, some heroes, such as Hawkeye, deal less damage, at least at medium and long range. Thor will now be nearly unstoppable when using his God of Thunder ultimate, which can no longer be interrupted by crowd control abilities. Mantis receives a passive move buff nerf, while Rocket will receive a healing buff and a buff to his team with Punisher and Winter Soldier.
There is also a good chance that you will be less likely to be swallowed by Jeff the land shark.
Marvel Rivals players will want to check out all the changes coming later this week as they welcome the recent main game, Invisible Woman (and Malice).

Marvel Rivals Season 1 January 10 update notes
Captain America
Steve will gain increased survivability, allowing him to enter and exit combat more frequently.
– Reduced the shield recovery delay after Living Legend release from 3 to 2 seconds.
– Reduces the cooldown of Freedom Charge from 12s to 10s.
– Base health increased from 650 to 675.
– Reduced the energy cost of releasing Freedom Charge (ultimate ability) from 3400 to 3100; Reduce the bonus health granted to yourself per second after its release from 110 to 100.
Doctor Strange
We will reduce the threat range and boost the Sorcerer Supreme’s defense window.
– Added damage reduction to Maelstrom of Madness and Gamma Maelstrom. Starting at 5 meters and reducing to 70% at 8 meters.
– Shield recovery rate after releasing Seraphim Shield has been slightly reduced from 80/s to 70/s.
Thor
The Thunder God could have slightly increased the survivability and effectiveness of his ultimate skills.
– Base health increased from 500 to 525.
– Added resistance to control effects during God of Thunder (ultimate ability).
Pontoon
Dr. Banner has been dominant, but some reduced sustained combat abilities once he enters the battlefield will make him more similar to the other Vanguard.
– Reduce the Unbreakable Guard’s gamma shield value for Hero Hulk from 250 to 200.
Venom
With increased survivability and the threat of his ultimate ability, the symbiote threat will strike fear into the rear of all enemy teams.
– Increases the bonus health of Symbiotic Resistance gained per health point lost from 1 to 1.2.
– Increases the base damage of Abyssal Feast (Ultimate) from 40 to 50.
Black Panther
We are slightly reducing T’Challa’s combat survivability.
– Reduce the bonus health granted to yourself after refreshing Vibrational Signs with Spirit Sundering from 40 to 30, and the upper limit of bonus health granted from 120 to 75.
Black Widow
Natasha badly needed optimization, gauging the experience of unleashing her skills as well as slightly increasing the threat of her ultimate ability,
– Increases the range of the first Edge Dancer effect from a 3 meter radius to a 5 meter radius.
– Reduced the time needed for Fleet Foot to regenerate stamina from 0 to full from 12 to 4 seconds.
– Reduce the time required to explode electroplasma (ultimate ability) to reach maximum power from 1s to 0.6s.
Hawkeye
We will reduce the ability to deal damage at medium and long range, reduce the perilous combat radius, and slightly improve the melee resistance of the vengeful archer.
– Slightly reduce the spread angle between every two explosive arrows.
– Reduced the activation distance of the Archer’s Focus passive ability from 60 meters to 40 meters. Reduce the maximum bonus damage of your passive from 80 to 70.
Hela
The Goddess of Death was a threat and we will slightly reduce her combat power.
– Base health decreased from 275 to 250.
Magic
The Queen of the Void needed an boost in threat after unleashing her ultimate ability.
– Darkchild’s Umbral Incursion damage increased from 115 to 135.
Moon Knight
Khonshu’s Hand will receive a slight boost in threat from its ultimate ability.
– Increased the number of claws generated by Khonshu Hand (ultimate ability) from 10 to 14.
– Increase the explosion radius of each claw from 4 meters to 5 meters.
Namor
We’re optimizing the feeling of throwing Namor’s eggs!
– Customize the casting style of Monstro Spawn and Frozen Spawn. Now Namor can throw them precisely where he wants them to be.
Psylocke
We’ll give other heroes more options to counter the Demon Slayer Ultimate.
– Now Butterfly Dance (ultimate ability) will check barriers (including Magneto’s Metal Bastion, Hulk’s Unbreakable Guard, etc.).
Punisher
We are slightly increasing Frank’s weapon damage.
– Slightly reduce the spread of Deliverance and Judgment.
The Scarlet Witch
We’re increasing Wanda’s combat power when she’s fighting Duels or Strategists.
– Chaos Control constant damage increased from 50/s to 60/s.
– Reduced damage per second percentage from 5% to 3%.
– Chthonian Burst missile damage increased from 30 to 35.
Storm
The Weather Witch needed an overall boost in her damage output; We’re also optimizing the feel of her left-click projectile and the release process of her ultimate ability.
– Wind Blade projectile speed increased from 100 m/s to 150 m/s and left mouse button damage from 50 to 55.
– Missile Charge damage increased from 70 to 80.
– After releasing Omega Hurricane (ultimate ability), the bonus health it grants itself will be increased from 350 to 450. Furthermore, once it ends, the bonus health will no longer disappear instantly, but will instead decrease at a rate of 100 per second.
Squirrel
We boost the threat of Doreen and her furry friends with their ultimate abilities.
– Added a recent effect to Undefeated Squirrel Tsunami (ultimate ability): squirrels will run towards the nearest enemy after bouncing, instead of bouncing randomly.
– Reduced the health of the Squirrel Tsunami from 600 to 300.
Winter Soldier
We will be adjusting Bucky, reducing his strength in long-range combat and increasing his survivability in mid-range combat.
– Increases the bonus health provided by Bionic Hook and Corrupt Voltage from 30 to 40.
– Roterstern missile damage increased from 70 to 75.
– Reduces splash damage from 70 to 65 and reduces damage decay from 65% at 40 meters to 60%.
– Base health increased from 250 to 275.
Wolverine
Logan will receive an boost in base combat power, but a slight decrease in additional survivability after activating Undying Animal.
– Increases base health from 300 to 350.
– Reduced the damage reduction rate provided by the Undead Animal from 50% to 40%.
Cloak and dagger
You and Tandy will receive an boost in their healing abilities, as well as an expansion of the area of effect of their ultimate ability.
– Reduces the cooldown of Dagger Storm from 15s to 12s.
– Increase the number of bars in Eternal Bond (ultimate ability) from 3 to 4.
Jeff, the land shark
We will be adjusting the range of his ultimate ability to now better match the warning marker. In addition, we will also boost his healing ability.

Like Hawkeye, Hela’s overwhelming power will be slightly reduced.
– Reduced Hela’s seasonal bonus from 20% to 15%.
Luna Snow – Namor
We will boost the threat of Namor’s Frozen Spawn.
– Increased Frozen Spawn damage from 25 to 27.
– Frozen Spawn’s slowing effect on hitting enemies increased from 25% to 30%.
– Increases Berserk status damage from 16 to 18.
Rocket Raccoon – Punisher – Winter Soldier
One of Rocket’s best tools will be available more often!
– Reduces the cooldown of Ammunition Invention from 45s to 40s.
Scarlet Witch – Magneto
Somewhat disappointingly, the damage capabilities of this Father-Daughter Link skill will be increased.
– Metallic Fusion bullet damage increased from 55 to 60.
– Increases Metallic Fusion spell field damage from 30 to 35.
Thor – Storm – Captain America
We will be increasing the damage capabilities of Storm’s side in this Team-Up skill.
– Reduces the cooldown of Charged Gale from 20s to 15s.
– Increases Charged Gale damage from 50 to 55.
