Marvel Rivals Reveals Season 1: Night Falls and the Arrival of the Fantastic Four

Marvel Rivals developer NetEase has revealed Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, which adds the Fantastic Four to the game.

In the video below, we see the narrative setup of Season 1, in which Dracula and Doctor Doom plunge New York into darkness. Fortunately, the Fantastic Four are on hand to facilitate.

Darkness covers New York as the Time Stream Entanglement leaves Doctor Strange trapped in the Tangled Astral Plane, scattering the pages of the Darkhold. Dracula and Doctor Doom disrupt the moon’s orbit, plunging the city into eternal night and unleashing an army of vampiric creatures. With the world on the brink, the Fantastic Four join forces with iconic Marvel heroes in an epic battle to break the mystical darkness through science. Battle Dracula with the Fantastic Four in Marvel Rivals!

Season 1 of Marvel Rivals: Eternal Night Falls begins on January 10, 2025 at 1:00 a.m. PST.

Marvel Rivals has been a hit for NetEase, driving 10 million players in just three days and 20 million in two weeks. The free-to-play superhero-based PvP shooter released on December 6 for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Sony and Microsoft do not publicly share player numbers, but Steam does share Valve’s available stats.

On Steam, Marvel Rivals peaked on its launch weekend with 480,990 concurrent players, enough to place it in the top five most played games on Valve’s platform. This is the 20th highest number of concurrent players ever seen on Steam, surpassing games such as Helldivers 2, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Destiny 2.
