Did you know that Final Fantasy 7 is the second best-selling PS1 title of all time? You might not have guessed it, considering JRPGs don’t sell as well as other genres these days, but no, it was one hell of a popular game – and there’s a reason it got a trilogy of remakes. However, in comparison, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth may not be doing as well, as earlier this year it was reported that both it and Final Fantasy 16 fell below Square Enix’s sales expectations. This, in turn, has prompted the developer to shift towards cross-platform releases of its games, and it looks like this is something Rebirth producer Yoshinori Kitase also has in mind.

This obviously doesn’t guarantee that Remake Part 3 will be available on day one on PC or Xbox, Remake and Rebirth aren’t even available on Microsoft’s platform yet, but it does seem to suggest that Square Enix is thinking very strenuous about making the trilogy more accessible than just on PS5 . Rebirth is coming to PC next month, less than a year after its release on PlayStation, but those of you who want to play it on Xbox will have to keep their fingers crossed for an announcement for some time yet.
