Eleven great games for the beginning of 2025

Are we already at the end of 2024? They say time flies when you’re having fun, and boy, did we ever have a blast this year. But with a recent year comes the promise of plenty of recent gaming experiences, and the first four months of 2025 are already packed with unique titles. Let’s take a look at some of the great games you’ll have the opportunity to play over the next few months.

The most epic retelling of the historical Three Kingdoms saga in gaming history returns in the most ambitious installment ever. Dynasty Warriors: Origins picks up at the beginning of the story, with the recent martial arts hero soon meeting legendary characters Guan Yu and Zhang Jiao, and the story takes a drastic turn. Origins features the most detailed battlefields in the series to date, each filled with soldiers that you and your allies must defeat with a combination of action and strategy. Whether you’re a recent recruit or a seasoned Warrior expert, Origins is sure to surprise and thrill you with its story and action.

Combat and mech exploration come together in a pretty yet risky post-apocalyptic third-person shooter. Set in the same universe as the Synduality: Noir anime, Echo of Ada is a standalone story set in a future where the remnants of humanity have been grouped into compact clusters due to the dual threat of deadly rainfall and the malicious creature that spawns from it. As a Drifter apprentice, you employ a mech called Cradlecoffin to gather the necessary energy sources, accompanied by an bright and powerful artificial intelligence called Magus. Customize your mech and employ Magus’ abilities to defeat the wild creatures of Ender and other players.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the acclaimed and award-winning sequel, is coming to PC early next year. This game is an online open-world adventure taking place on the streets and skies of New York. It stars Peter Parker and Miles Morales, two of the greatest creators of the spider suit. They’ll employ a range of skills and gadgets – as well as the fan-favorite symbiote suit – to battle Kraven and his gang of Hunters.

With leaders, you can choose independence from your civilization, follow the path of established history, or stray into wild what-if scenarios.

One of the most beloved and respected franchises in gaming returns with a recent setting, dual heroes, and all the mystery and intrigue you could expect. Set in Sengoku-era Japan, you’ll control both female ninja Naoe and samurai warrior Yasuke in an ever-changing open world full of friends, enemies, quests, and secrets. Not only will you employ the series’ signature stealth elements to explore and eliminate enemies and targets, but you’ll also be able to employ recent tools and wield a variety of time-honored Japanese weapons. Your skills and senses will prove to be as vital to victory as your ability to employ a blade.

It’s time to return to an often forgotten period in the history of one of gaming’s leading ladies. Lara Croft returns to the spotlight with three more remasters of classic Tomb Raider titles. Tomb Raider: The Final Revelation, Tomb Raider Chronicles and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. In addition to a number of graphical improvements and the choice between classic and up-to-date controls, players will have access to a brand recent photo mode with tons of poses and outfits to create frosty, stylish showcases for Lara.

Longtime followers of the Like a Dragon saga know that Goro Majima’s Mad Dog was usually a bit weird. However, his latest escapade is extremely strange, even by Majima’s standards. After being stranded on a remote island and losing his memories, Majima emerges as a recent man: a sea scoundrel! But since he’s still a Majima at heart, prepare for some deliciously unhinged naval battles. Use Majima’s Mad Dog and Sea Dog fighting styles to blast punks on the coasts of Honolulu and Madlantis, or head out to sea for some truly old-school cannon combat… complete with all the weird quests, mini-games, and karaoke you came to love from the show .

No matter where you go in the expansive Monster Hunter universe, there’s no shortage of truly essential games to tackle. Suikoden I & II HD Remaster is a collection of two of the best turn-based RPG games on the original PlayStation console, each with a twist-filled story of conflict, heartbreak, friendship and perseverance in times of war and strife. In both games, you’ll go from a compact band of rebels to building a mighty fortress by recruiting members of the 108 Stars of Destiny, warriors, wizards, and lovable weirdos who unite under your banner to fight for your cause.

What if you could just spend your days among elated little hobbits in the lush, green grounds of the Shire? One of the longest-running and most beloved fighting game franchises of all time returns in a gigantic way.
