Dead space fans, look away now. Series creator Glen Schofield revealed that EA recently turned down an offer from him and two other developers who worked on the original game for a potential Dead space 4.
Earlier this year it was reported that Dead space the series was put on hold at EA after Motive’s 2023 remake of the original game failed to meet the publisher’s expectations. This was despite positive reviews, with many believing the game was an improvement on the classic 2008 survival horror game. However, it looks like this may be the last game of this series for a while.
Glen Schofield’s offer for Dead Space 4 was recently rejected
Glen Schofield, the creator and director of the original game, revealed in an interview with Dan Allen Gaming that he introduced the potential Dead space 4 to EA this year along with inventive director Bret Robbins and animation director Christopher Stone.
“We didn’t dig too deep – they just said no, we’re not interested at the moment, we appreciate it, blah blah blah and you know, we know who to talk to so we didn’t pursue it further… they know their number, they know what to send and so on ” Schofield explained.
Stone chimed in to try to further explain EA’s decision, claiming: “The industry is in a weird place right now. People are really risk averse, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. Who knows, maybe one day we would all like to do this.
One sec Dead space may not be in EA’s immediate plans, it will be intriguing to see if the publisher revisits it in the future. It will be even more intriguing to see if he returns to Schofield to learn more about his plans. He wasn’t involved with the series beyond the original game, but he could be just what it needs for some original ideas.
