It’s scarce to feel like you can reach into your TV screen and physically touch a video game, but that’s certainly part of the appeal of LEGO Horizon Adventures. While most LEGO games simply place iconic bricks into existing environments, this adaptation goes a step further by recreating Aloy’s adventure almost entirely using LEGO pieces. It’s an impressive – if perhaps overlooked – achievement, resulting in a spectacularly handsome release.

Much of Silent Hill 2’s impressive atmosphere is taken from the game’s art direction: the fleshy creatures, oppressive interiors, and fog-covered streets of the city itself. Bloober Team had a lot of work ahead of them after remaking such an iconic release without stripping Silent Hill of its nightmarish tone, but the creator has managed to unravel most expectations – including ours. Silent Hill 2 is a demented feast for the eyes, dripping with tension at every turn.

Moving on to the completely original fantasy setting of Metaphor: ReFantazio, it seems that the Atlus art team has managed to break free from some artistic shackles and create an RPG that looks great from start to finish. It’s true that Metaphor is a bit scratchy in terms of graphics, but the underlying craftsmanship is still clearly perceptible. WITH immaculate from the character designs and portraits, to the stunning menus and visual overlays, it’s as opulent and evocative as up-to-date RPG titles. Artistically, it’s a borderline masterpiece.

Incredible art direction is one thing, but the combination of this sublime sense of style with the game’s excellent graphics is what sets Persona 3 Reload apart. This remake takes the original Persona 3 and improves it to a truly impressive degree. It’s overloaded ridiculously a good-looking game across the board, whether you’re exploring high school hallways or casting shadows with magical abilities – in typical Atlus style, the menus, 2D assets, and combat overlays are obsessively designed.
We’d even go as far as to say it’s one of the best-looking RPGs ever released.
