Although December is quickly coming to an end, the update adds more than enough winter-themed fun to keep players occupied in the weeks ahead. Highlights include various Christmas decorations and maps, hidden gifts to find, the modern Gold Shop and the Season 5 leaderboard.

Those who jump into Anime Defenders after the Christmas update will first notice the snow, gifts, and trees that now litter the lobby. It’s more than just festive trinkets, though, as the extra clutter has been used to carefully hide gifts that, when acquired, unlock some of the modern maps. Completing additional Santa tasks can unlock even more goodies, and daily tasks will reward players with rewards if they continue to log in until December 26. There is also a narrow Christmas banner available, which includes six modern units to collect.

In addition to each modern holiday item added as part of the Anime Defenders Holiday Update, players can take advantage of a modern trading currency: Emerald. While the introduction of a modern currency is invigorating, Small World explains that most items, with the exception of gifts, cannot be traded right now.
