Rumor: The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion will receive a remake on Unreal Engine 5 in 2025

Before the overwhelming behemoth that was and still is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, there was The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

A classic open-world RPG – which has been the source of countless internet memes over the years – Oblivion is still a lot of fun to sit down and play, despite its inherent wobble. You could quite easily argue that the dodgy progression systems and funny-talking NPCs are part of its charm.

Either way, a modern rumor suggests that a full remake is coming. As received by Insider gamesit all started with an alleged leak on Reddit – a post that has since been deleted. However, it is said that the leak was actually justified and was verified by the people involved GamingLeaks and rumors to replace.

The information reportedly comes from someone who previously worked at Virtuos, a global development company that handles everything from remasters and remakes to outsourced assets, updates, and DLC for AAA games.

For example, Virtuos is behind Metal Gear Solid Delta and recently developed patch 2.2 for Cyberpunk 2077.

According to this anonymous source, an Oblivion remake is in the works and running on Unreal Engine 5. It was expected to be released in overdue 2024 (obviously wrong) or early 2025 (which also seems a bit unlikely at this point ). .
