Fortnite has started joke this famed five-octave singer Mariah Carey hibernates throughout the year before being thawed out before Christmas to sing her Christmas hits, asking the singer to do so in the game. Recently, a giant block of ice was added to the Fortnite map, which had previously melted, revealing Carey dancing in a Santa suit while playing “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

It’s a little disappointing that Mariah Carey’s Fortnite doesn’t actually lip-sync the song and instead just repeats dance emoticons, but I wasn’t really planning on watching any Grammy-winning artists emerge from a block of ice and sing to Fortnite players in this year, so who do I ask for more?
The Big Thaw means more than just that Christmas is approaching – what’s much more critical is that Fortnite’s holiday event, Winterfest 2024, has begun.
