Monster Hunter Wilds creator is making “continuous improvements” to PS5 performance. Premiere of a set of patches for PS5 Pro

Published:

This morning, Capcom hosted a livestream for Monster Hunter Wilds developers to discuss all of the team’s priorities ahead of the game’s February launch.

It’s an in-depth panel that includes a lot of insight from director Yuki Tokuda, and honestly, a lot of the planned – and ongoing – improvements sound great.

Of course, there are plenty of gameplay improvements and adjustments going on behind the scenes. Various weapon types are modified to some extent, and the details surrounding them, such as the speed at which monsters flee from battle, have been changed for the better.

What about performance on PS5? This was a key point of concern for many players who played the Wilds beta a few months ago, as this test version was so strict. Since then, Capcom has promised that newer builds will perform much better, and now the developer has given us a novel update in this regard.

The team, who were originally part of the livestream above, showed off novel PS5 footage using the game’s performance mode. You can immediately see that the frame rate is much smoother than in the beta version. It looks like a silky 60 frames per second – or something like that.

Capcom then provided additional details on social media, writing: “Here’s an overview of the work on the updated ‘Prioritize Performance’ mode running on PS5. The team has addressed rendering issues during open beta testing and is continually making improvements ahead of launch. ” Good to know.

The developer then confirms that PS5 Pro support will be introduced in a day one patch. We’re apparently getting more information about these improvements closer to launch.

Indeed, Monster Hunter Wilds will be available before we know it. The game is still scheduled for release on February 28.
