First Mass Effect Exodus gameplay video shows duels with space bears and conversations with graceful frogs

First revealed in December 2023, Archetype Entertainment and Blur Studio’s sci-fi adventure game Exodus struck us with several things: Matthew McConaughey is involved, it looks a bit like Mass Effect, it’s being developed by BioWare veterans, and it loves a bit of time dilation. Back in October this year, we took a look at some disgusting celestial faction with zero gameplay. And now? Now we can finally see you do it. Like a loser punching armored space bears in the face with electric guns.

Here’s the fresh trailer:

What can we take from this? It has a similar over-the-shoulder look to Mass Effect, with special “celestial technology” that allows it to freeze enemies before shattering them into charcoal shards. There’s a pretty planet covered in sickly fog and a fight with an armored space bear. The key to defeating a bear is to hit it on the head. There is also a curious frog in a vat of water, as well as a larger frog that is more menacing.

More seriously, this “celestial technology” seems to be at the heart of the fight. It allows you to turn your arm into a short-lived energy blade while your other hand provides hook power for flanking or repositioning. The hero’s gun also transforms, first transforming from a shotgun, then a grenade launcher, and then a rifle. I’m not sure how your buddies lend a hand you during the more explosive moments or if you can direct them, because they’re not really the focal point of this trailer. However, you can see that they shoot a little and sneak a little.

It’s tough to understand the point of only writing down the shortest parts, but from an overall standpoint I think this looks like a 7/10 special. Not that that’s a bad thing! In my opinion, 7/10 games are some of the best.

There is no release date for Exodus yet, but you can follow the game on its website official website.
