Sega announced Sonic Racing CrossWorlds with a sneak peek trailer at The Game Awards 2024.
Launching “soon” on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.
In a press release sent after the show, Sega joked: “The show revealed Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, a racing game featuring iconic characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. The game features distinct racing mechanics that promise to take fans’ Sonic racing to a modern dimension.”
It follows 2019’s Team Sonic Racing, which featured a team-based system. In our review we wrote: “Team Sonic Racing focuses on what matters most: speed and finesse on the racetrack. The new team system is a fantastic evolution of the arcade racing formula, giving you a real reason to work together, and there’s a litany of customization options to keep you coming back to those excellent tracks and earning more. Although Adventure mode’s small squad and irritating story could be better, Team Sonic Racing is an addictive and inventive evolution that proves that Sumo Digital is at the top of its game. “
