Where to watch the movie online every Friday the 13th in 2024

Following the success of Halloween (1978), Friday the 13th kicked off the 1980s, taking the slasher genre to a fresh, gory level. Jason Voorhees first showed up (sort of) to terrify teenagers at Crystal Lake summer camp, and it’s safe and sound to say that the original Friday the 13th is a must-see for any horror fan. 12 films and 11 directors later, the hokey villain wearing a horror mask has become a zombie, flown into space, and fought another slasher icon.

For anyone looking to celebrate today and the date with some slasher flicks, here’s where you can stream all of the Friday the 13th movies right now.

For years, finding Friday the 13th movies online has been quite tough. Last October, the first eight Friday the 13th films (the “original series,” if you will) finally found a home on Paramount+. Newer films, including the 2009 reboot, can be streamed on Max. All Friday the 13th movies can be rented or purchased on digital storefronts, but unfortunately that’s the only way to get Jason Goes to Hell (maybe the best one), Freddy vs. Jason, and Jason X.

While the Friday the 13th movies may be everywhere on the internet, Shout!Factory released a collected set of all 12 films on Blu-ray in 2020. The set, which happens to go on sale on Amazon on Friday the 13th, also comes with what can only be described as a ridiculous number of bonus features. If you don’t need the Blu-ray or all these extras, you can also download the file DVD set with the first 8 films for about $20.

In what order should you watch the Friday the 13th movies?

There’s a lot going on in Friday the 13th, like most ’80s slashers. We’re talking spin-offs, reboots, crossovers and good senior time travel. For those interested in Jason’s timeline, we’ve also covered how to watch the Friday the 13th movies in chronological order.

Will there be more Friday the 13th movies?

While the 2009 reboot may have aimed to revive the franchise, the complicated legal drama surrounding franchise rights has since halted production of any fresh Friday the 13th films. Instead, the biggest release the franchise has seen in the last 15 years was Friday the 13th: The Game, which was delisted in behind schedule 2023 due to its greater legal drama.

Still, maybe we’ll finally get a “Friday the 13th” movie. Earlier this year, Horror, Inc announced that it would be working with some of the original license holders to create a cross-platform Jason Universe. Yes, of course, that’s what they call it. While Jason’s story will seemingly begin with the Crystal Lake TV series, hopefully we’ll see Jason back on the substantial screen sooner rather than later.
