Astrobota stand-alone title based on the work of the team at Playroomshowed that a smaller PlayStation studio was able to create a platformer that could compete with Nintendo’s best games.

This year, the jury nominated an independent card game Balatroalong with DLC for Elden’s Ring. Sony has had a good year since its two first-party games, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, AND Astrobot were nominated. Astrobot AND Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth led the group with seven nominations each. Before its release, Polygon predicted that the PlayStation-branded 3D platformer, Astrobotwould win.
