Early access launch Path of Exile 2 – a sequel that had been in development for several years – was met with quite a fantastic reception. In addition to its “Very Positive” rating on Steam, the latest action RPG Grinding Gears has also attracted over half a million players in just a few days.
It seems to be fine for now. Although it hasn’t even been a week yet. It’s still very early days. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, and there is no time like now, because the developer has released the first major patch for the game.
Version 0.1.0d Path of Exile 2 rollout has begun and comes shortly after GGG announced that it had initiated some QOL changes to the game, promising that more would be on the way, along with full patch notes. Well, today is the day and the update includes a number of adjustments, improvements and bug fixes, as well as gem-triggering changes and energy gains.
Path of Exile 2 Patch notes for version 0.1.0d
You could read the full changelog Here. However, I easily pasted it below to avoid opening a up-to-date browser tab. Why yes, I am generous.
General improvements and changes
- Passive block chance now applies to blockable hits from all directions, not just frontal hits.
- Player size is now set to Zero units when dodging instead of one unit.
- Some smaller monsters can now be pushed away while dodging. This includes monsters such as the Ornamental Beetles in Keth.
- The typed Ultimatum and Djinn Baryas now display whether you will receive Domination skill points after completing Trial of Chaos or Trial of Sekhema, respectively.
- Removed pins on the world map for encounters that did not occur in specific locations in areas. i.e. From Monstera drops.
- Improved attack behavior in place.

Triggering gems and energy gains
The energy boost for trigger gems wasn’t in the right place and it was too effortless to operate ailments to trigger spells. One problem with the previous system is that if we balanced it so that triggering occurred during boss fights, then triggering would occur too often during clearing. To solve this problem, we now include “Monster Power” in the energy gain calculations.
This means that it is much easier to activate abilities from Unique Monsters than from regular monsters, but you also hit a lot more normal monsters during combat. Another problem was using low-level skills with unconditional applications such as Wall of Flame to ignite enemies to trigger them. To make the ignition source dependent, we make the energy gain dependent on the ignition strength. We also balanced all energy gain in all areas.
Ultimatum changes
- Overall improved balance across the board with monsters, bosses, and Ultimatum modifiers. Mainly focusing on the outliers that were too arduous and bringing them in line with the norm.
- Monster density in Ultimatum encounters has become more consistent.
- Stormcaller Runes, Blood Orbs, Heart Tethers, and Rings of Impending Doom no longer appear when the player is on an elevator or near altars in the Vaal Soul Core room.
- Fixed an issue that could cause player minions to get stuck at the top of the elevator in Trials of Chaos.
Bug fixes
- Fixed a bug that caused enemies to be ready to be stunned or electrocuted earlier than intended while in a party.
- Fixed an issue where Gemling Legionnaires with the Integrated Domination Performance passive assigned could lose 3 additional skill slots if they were empty when entering a up-to-date area.

- Fixed an issue that prevented the Riverside portal from opening on Cruel difficulty.
- Fixed an issue where some of Zalmarath the Colossus’ abilities could remain lively after their death.
- Fixed an issue where opening the full screen panel while disenchanting could prevent you from performing any actions until you log back in.
