More Cyberpunk 2077 updates may come as CDPR enlists outside support for patch 2.2

Based on what developer CD Projekt Red revealed during its recent livestream, there is the possibility of even more updates to Cyberpunk 2077.

The open-world RPG just received a brand novel update – patch 2.2 – even though the Polish company stated that it was basically done to support the four-year-old title.

Previously, CDPR said minor improvements and additions power may occur depending on how much time is needed for development. Of course, the teams that once worked on 2077 and its expansion Phantom Liberty have long since moved on to other projects, such as the next Witcher and the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

So how did update 2.2 come about? Well, this is where it gets compelling. CDPR actually outsourced this update to a separate developer called Virtuos.

Virtuos is a huge company consisting of studios around the world and usually supports developers working on high-budget games.

Virtuos producer Pauline Debroux took part in the aforementioned livestream and explained that her teams are working on things like additional quests, levels, DLC, art assets, and more.

Essentially, Virtuos provided the manpower behind this novel update, and CDPR oversaw its development – and that has already caused people to wonder if this is just the beginning of a patch-focused partnership.
