Want to enhance the capacity of your Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck or ASUS ROG Ally? Here’s a great deal on a highly rated Samsung memory card. Amazon offers, among others: Samsung Evo Select SDXC card with a capacity of 1 TB for $69.99. The set also includes an SD card adapter. Samsung is one of the most recommended memory card brands, and the Evo Select model is faster than most Micro SDXC cards, especially since it’s a newer version with read speeds of up to 160MB/s (up from 130MB/s). It is compatible with most portable gaming devices, including Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and ROG Ally.
Samsung Evo Select Micro SDXC card with a capacity of 1 TB
Compatible with Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck
If you’ve started building your digital game collection, you probably already know how circumscribed the Switch’s base memory capacity is. The Switch and Switch OLED have 32 GB and 64 GB of internal memory, respectively, some of which is reserved for the operating system. Some games require a huge chunk of this space. Examples include Tears of the Kingdom which takes up 16GB of space, Monster Hunter Rise 20GB, Breath of the Wild 13.5GB and Persona 5 Royal 14GB. There’s only one memory card expansion slot on the Switch, so make sure you get the biggest card you can afford, although most people won’t need more than 1TB of extra memory.
Samsung Evo Select is compatible with virtually any device that accepts the Micro SDXC card standard, including Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally. Evo Select is a faster than average Micro SDXC card with a U3/A2/V30 speed rating. In terms of actual numbers, it offers sustained read speeds of up to 160MB/s. In addition to pairing well with a gaming notebook, this card will be an ideal candidate for devices that require quick, high-capacity data transfer, such as a smartphone, 4K DSLR, or action camera.
Cheaper alternative: TeamGroup 1TB Micro SDXC card
If you’re more adaptable with branding, Amazon has that too TeamGroup Pro Plus 1TB Micro SDXC Card for $57.99. That’s actually less than the price we saw during Black Friday and Cyber Monday (it was $60 back then). This is a U3 A2 card with similar parameters, providing transfer speeds of up to 160 MB/s reading and 110 MB/s writing. TeamGroup is not as well-known and universal a brand as Samsung, but it has been in the flash memory market for a long time and has made a name for itself as a reputable supplier of affordable but high-performance RAM, flash drives and SSDs.
