Sometimes it’s nice to have something straightforward to play. No frills, no novelty, but just a straightforward addition to the genre. And for better or worse, today’s topic of Blob Attack: Tower Defense is exactly that. Coming to us from solo developer Stanislav Buchkov, let’s find out what they have to offer.

There’s nothing special to say about it, as this one-man-made game is already available on the iOS App Store and allows you to do all the expected things in this genre. Build towers, collect energy and unlock fresh, more powerful weapons to fend off your enemies.

In this case, they are the apparently rather fashionable slime balls that plague adventurers in Dragon Quest and are becoming an increasingly common feature of the fantasy genre. But with every positive side, there must of course be a cloud.

It’s a bit of a matter of art

I think the only thing that really stood out to me about Blob Attack was, unfortunately, the presence of AI graphics on the store page and (I assume) in-game. It’s a shame because while Blob Attack looks straightforward, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing, but this kind of graphics tend to put me off giving it the chance it sorely deserves.

Looking at Stanislav’s other works on the app store, it’s clear that this is a bit of an overkill, which is a shame because their other works such as Dungeon Craft (a pixelated RPG) could have been good if it weren’t for the gist of it all that was left burned computer algorithm.

However, if you want to hear different information, we think we may have other options for you. Why not check out the latest Off the AppStore entry to find out what you can play on third-party sites?
