Fortnite reveals fresh tactical FPS mode

Published:

Fortnite there may have been a ton of fresh content added over the years, but Ballistics Mode could be a breath of fresh air for the community.

So far, Epic’s Battle Royale game has remained closely tied to the genre, despite all the community-created content that can be used at any time. Ballistic will be something completely different and it will be the first 5v5 FPS mode. The creators provided some essential information about the upcoming mode, including: what to expect and when it will be available.

Fortnite Ballistic release date

Ballistics mode will feature 5v5 competition with a focus on first-person shooters rather than the established third-person point of view. The mode will be released in Early Access on December 11, and Epic has provided brief details on how it will work.

Fortnite Ballistics Mode explained

As already mentioned, Ballistic will be FPS mode in which two five-person teams will face each other. It will launch with the Skyline 10 map, a confined number of items and a starting weapon set. As expected, this will be a build-free mode where all saved presets from the locker will be carried over. Any items unlocked over the years, such as outfits, emotes, and more, will not be supported.

In each competition, one team will play the role of attacker and the other team will play the role of defender. Attackers will have to ambush Rift Point device, while the Defenders will have to defend it before the device activates. There will be two regions on the map where players can plant the device.

Teams switch roles after every 6 rounds and the competition wins 7 rounds.

Each player will start with a Ranger pistol and 800 Credits. Players will earn credits by eliminating enemies and planting the Rift Point device. If they survive the round, they keep all their equipment and shields. Players can also facilitate their teammates with supplies and other equipment.

Each player will also start their journey with one of five Flex Gadgets and can have a maximum of two of these items in each round. Players cannot pick up another teammate’s Flex Gadget. Strategically used Flex Gadgets can completely change the course of a round and the entire battle.

The ballistic mode will be divided into ranked and unranked, and you can choose the mode you like. Competing in Ranked mode will be much more competitive, and if you leave the competition prematurely, you will be penalized. All matches will be played based on your team’s average rank to keep the competition fair for everyone.
