Of all the various trinkets and gadgets that end up on my desk and in my lovely arms, there is rarely one that cleaning my workplace. But that’s exactly what this Thermaltake pegboard does and it does it in a quite uncomplicated yet stylish way.
Smart and hard-wearing: that’s how I would describe this pegboard. But that’s like comparing pegboard to pegboard, in a world where gaming pegboards were common. However, we don’t live in such a world. In this case, the average person hasn’t even seen a desk pegboard in the wild, let alone owned one.
So it’s much better if we first explain exactly what this thing does and whether it’s better to have it (in general) than not to have it (in general). Here you go.
It’s a plate – a piece of the finest powder-coated steel – full of holes in which you can fit various accessories for storage and organization. It’s basically a space-saving shelf for DIY enthusiasts. But one that looks a bit trendy in this gaming space. Behind them we see enormous ones used on gaming desks such as the Corsair Platform: 6 and the Decztop Bifrost Elite.
The Thermaltake pegboard can be placed on a non-pegboard desk to get in on this action, allowing you to hook and balance all sorts of things, hopefully not so precariously vertically on the side of the desk.

How does this work out? Well, first of all, I have no complaints about the durability and build quality. It only sticks to the desk thanks to the clamping mechanism, but honestly, I pushed and shook it pretty challenging and it didn’t move even an inch. The steel is also quite sturdy.
In fact, only in the case of accessories with one peg (hooks) does “weak” come to mind, because without two fixed points it can of course rotate a little. But that’s the general nature of single peg pegboard accessories.
Of course it was uncomplicated to set up, it was just a tortuous and embarrassing ordeal. And once it’s set up, it looks quite elegant. I have mine on the left side of the desk, which also gives my desk a slightly more closed, cozy feel.
What about the function? In that respect, I’m quite joyful with it, but I would prefer if there were other accessories included. I’m not sure if I’m weird about this, but hooks and pin magnets have no utilize whatsoever. There’s nothing petite and magnetic that I want to plug in, or stand-alone cables that I want to have easily accessible. For this version of Medium, I’m left with a headphone holder and two controller holders. I only really need one controller holder, so only two useful accessories are included (at least in my case).
What I would like most is a pen holder or a flat platform where I can display something, or maybe even whatever book I’m reading. (I actually placed the book on the controller holder for a while, but it was a little wonky.)
A enormous version of the pegboard, i.e $10 extra and 52 x 42 cm, contains such useful accessories. In addition to some hooks and magnets (ugh), it also comes with one headset holder, two pen holders, and one storage shelf. But for some reason there are no controller owners in it. I had to choose the Medium because my desk has metal brackets underneath that restricted my mounting space, but I would probably choose the Large if I could.
The main annoyance for me is that there doesn’t seem to be a perfect package, whether it’s petite, medium or enormous. What would be perfect? Well, IMO, that would be the case one controller holder, one a headset holder, a pen holder and a long platform, or maybe a shorter display platform. And of course, throw in some hooks and magnets – why not? However, there is no version that includes all of these things, and that is my only gripe.
Buy if…
✅ Do you want to save space on your desk: Saving space is the main purpose of the desk clamp pegboard.
✅ You don’t want to do any drilling: The desk clamping mechanism is solid and requires no drilling or assembly.
Don’t buy if…
❌ You want to include lots of different things: Unfortunately, you will not receive the full range of accessories with this pegboard.
On the plus side, the holes are spaced about an inch apart, so you may have luck mounting third-party accessories to it, considering many of them have similar hole spacing.
And that brings us to the heart of the matter: Thermaltake advertises this as a “gaming pegboard,” but don’t assume for a second that it’s the only desk clamp pegboard on the market and that it’s a gaming-specific niche. Just search “Pegboard with Desk Clamp” on Amazon and a number of options will appear, including some of amazing similar accessories.
However, having said that, the price seems right for this Thermaltake. It’s actually much cheaper than many options from third-party brands that I’ve never heard of.
So where does this leave us? Well, it’s not a particularly unique product and comes with a frustratingly petite range of accessories, but it’s reasonably priced, comes from a well-known gaming brand and feels like a solid, high-quality product.
My suggestion: if you’re looking for a fun way to save desk space and display your gubbins, and if you want to shop around for economical third-party accessories, then go for it. However, if you want a wide range of accessories in the box, this pegboard is unfortunately not for you.
