EA Sports FC 25 has just received a major modern update called First Frost, which brings a number of changes to the game for the holiday season. There have been some modern additions and plenty of changes in response to things players weren’t content with.
EA is no stranger to releasing major updates this time of year, as they included some bizarre red and blue Inhumans in videos that demonstrated a number of changes made in the EA Sports FC 24 Holiday Update. Unfortunately, if they don’t release in some form today, it looks like that these demonstrative robo-ballists were given a year off this time.

EA writes in pitch notes post about the First Frost update that it “seeks to incorporate community feedback across most areas of the game while bringing a new layer of strategy and customization to the game” with this batch of improvements and modern features.
The massive headliners in terms of content start with two modern FC IQ player roles and a few modern rookies who will also replace existing roles. The modern roles are the “Classic 10” CAM, which allows you to play as a customary attacking center who is the “main hook in the attacking game”, and the CDM “Wide Half”, which is a “defensive player who covers the sides of the pitch” of the pitch and can lend a hand build games”.
Other modern additions, some of which will roll out with server releases and roster updates expected to follow the launch of First Frost, include modern Ultimate Team player elements, Max Tactics modes and Winter Match rules for UT friendlies, and two modern creative-inspired celebrations Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dusan Vlahovic. There is also a nice modern main menu theme.

That’s not all, however, considering many of the modes and overall gameplay have changed based on player feedback. For example, Rush matches in Ultimate Team will now only last five minutes instead of seven. General changes to the game such as improved defensive logic that helps defend against attacks from the start, AI attackers realizing they are offside a bit quicker, and some skills have become less “punishing” for players with two stars Hope this helps you enjoy your matches more.
EA also writes that in future updates it will analyze things like shooting from corners, first-time challenging shots, first-lob through passes, and dribbling. There have also been some changes and additions to Clubs and Career Mode – including modern double XP events and amenities in the former, and youth player development tweaks in the latter – that are worth being aware of if you enjoy these modes, so if that’s you, be sure to check out the full notes.
