Thought you were done with Baldur’s Gate 3? Well, Larian isn’t done with you yet, as Photo Mode, Cross-Platform Play, and 12 Subclasses are Coming in 2025

It’s not like most people are ready to move on, but Baldur’s Gate 3 does even more content next year, and it’s this sort of thing that will keep most die-hard fans on their eleventh game. Meanwhile, I haven’t finished the first one yet.

By game social media channels AND Steam blog postit was announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 has not yet received its last major content update. We know, the Larian people have said in the past that it’s over done with a huge RPG game, and yet they keep coming back to it. It’s entirely possible that they’ll be stuck in this loop for years, just like the creators of Terraria and Binding of Isaac.

This lauded game, which has even been played by three people from the Vatican, is now extremely popular user-created modificationsbut that doesn’t stop Larian from giving fans even more extra gifts.

Next year’s update 8, which the team says is the final patch for reals, will introduce cross-platform play, photo mode, and 12 modern subclasses. While Photo Mode has long been clamored for, cross-platform play is a little surprise that will make BG3 the perfect social game that can be played for countless hours. As for the modern subclasses, well, I think that means most players will be re-selecting characters Again. The Croatians from Dungeons & Dragons win.

Cross-play will be rolled out accordingly and “features full cross-platform progression, including cross-platform play.” Lobbies will be created and shared independently of the platform, although it is not entirely clear whether we will be able to put them on public display to play with random tickets.

As for the photo mode, it will come with a ton of features, including camera and lens settings, scene modifiers (poses, facial expressions, etc.), post-processing effects, frames, and even stickers. Since we don’t doubt for a second that the most dedicated players will operate these options in conjunction with mods, let the horny chaos begin.

Finally, Update 8 will add a modern subclass for all 12 classes. We list them below, but we recommend you read them official post for a complete overview.

  • Bard – Glamor School
  • Barbarian – Path of the Giants
  • Cleric – Domain of Death
  • Druid – Circle of Stars
  • Paladin – Oath of the Crown
  • Warrior – Arcane Archer
  • Monk – Drunken Master
  • Guardian – Guardian of the Hive
  • Rogue – Swashbuckler
  • Wizard – Shadow Magic
  • Sorcerer – Hexblade
  • Wizard – Bladesong

It’s also vital to note that there will be “stress tests” in January that will test not only crossplay but also the additional batch of fixes that will arrive with Patch 8. This means we probably shouldn’t expect to see the final release before February 2025. We will provide updates to this update as they become available.
