Let’s be sincere, nothing crucial happens in December. I’m planning 24 Advent calendar posts this week and will spend the rest of the year eating boxes of Cadbury Triple Chocolate Mini Yule Logs. So it’s no surprise that Devolver announced that the remaining slate of games scheduled to release in 2024 will actually release in 2025.
The games that dropped were Baby Steps, Skate Story and Stick It To The Stickman. Devolver delivered the news in typical style via the 15th annual Devolver Delayed Awards, which you can watch below.
I liked the in memoriam section with games released this year that can therefore no longer be delayed and are currently available at a discount via Devolver’s Fall Sale on Steam.
Baby Steps is the selection from the Delayed Three that I’m looking forward to the most. It’s a literal walking simulator from Bennett Foddy and the creators of Ape Out, in which you pilot individual limbs to guide your pajama-clad hero up a mountain, like a marriage between QWOP, Getting Over It, and any third-person game with a mountain you care about. Skyrim? Justin? I bet there’s a mud-soaked hill somewhere in God Of War.
Skate Story is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, if Tony Hawk were a demon made of glass. Stick It To Stickman is it The Flash animation you watched 20 years ago but with physics simulation and made by the creators of Broforce. I want to play both of these games too.
Check out the graphic design of these bad boys. The blur in the mini roll image is not my camera, this is what it actually looks like on the box.
