Pokémon TCG Pocket is estimated to have grossed $120 million in 3 weeks

Since its release on October 30, sales of the free Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket are estimated to have exceeded $120 million.

PocketGamer.biz cited data from ApplicationMagic according to estimates, the digital card game hit $100 million after 17 days and has now crossed the $120.8 million mark. Pokémon TCG Pocket is free to play, but allows players to purchase additional booster packs, cosmetics, and a monthly pass that provides one additional pack per day.

The app launched and was an immediate success, with AppMagic estimating it was making $3 million a day and $12 million a day after that. However, that number has already doubled, with daily player spending now totaling $6.4 million.

A similar trend was observed weekly as Pokémon TCG Pocket was estimated to have grossed $35.8 million in its first week and $48.5 million in its first week. Five days into its third week, Pokémon TCG Pocket grossed $37.2 million.

The augment over the first week is perhaps due to more players opting into the game, but also because, as is the design of the Pokémon TCG mobile game, Pocket delivers packs, cards, and cosmetic items to players and then whittles those rewards down to a trickle .

Developer Creatures Inc. also keeps the interest high by providing countless events tailored to different playstyles. The first one offered players freebies in the form of Wonder Picks and, to provide entertainment not only to collectors, Creatures Inc. it soon launched battle events in both single-player and player vs. player modes.

The Lapras ex Drop event allows players to tackle several water decks for a chance to win their beloved Pokémon, while the PvP event follows Pokémon lore by putting badges on the line.

When it comes to collecting, most players swoon over the Mythic God Packs, which give you five alternate graphics cards in one go, and there’s also a secret Mew card hidden in the game that isn’t too challenging to get.

And in battles, two of the usual suspects, former Charizard and former Mewtwo, are currently dominating the meta, though former Pikachu isn’t far behind. Creatures Inc. also announced the addition of recent cards in December and sales in 2025.
