Sandbox has exposed an stimulating modern feature in Alpha Season 4: NFT gating. This creative addition aims to improve the gameplay experience by allowing developers to restrict access to certain areas that can only be unlocked by players with the required NFTs.
This feature not only provides players with more Experience Points (EP) and accelerates Battle Pass progression but it also unlocks exclusive SAND rewards.

Unlock extra EP with keys
Throughout Alpha Season 4, players will encounter games with “premium areas” that are gated by NFTs. These areas contain tasks that reward more EP than normal tasks found outside these zones. To access these premium areas, players must have certain Keys. There are two types of keys: partner keys and category keys.
Affiliate keys
Affiliate Keys unlock access to premium areas based on affiliate partner experience. For example, the “Ubisoft Affiliate KEY” gives you access to premium areas within the Captain Lazerhawk and Rabbids experiences. Each affiliate key costs 5 SAND and can be purchased on the Sandbox Marketplace.
Category keys
Category keys unlock content across all Season 4 Alpha experiences that belong to a specific category. There are ten categoriesincluding ARTCULTURE, ENTERTAINMENT, FASHION/LUXURY and various genres of games. Each category key costs 30 SAND and allows access to all premium areas within that category.
Use and resale of keys
Once the key is in a player’s wallet, they can join the associated gameplay and access NFT-gated tasks. Keys can be resold if they weren’t used, but once the Key unlocks the content, its metadata changes to reflect the modern status, indicating that it has been used. Players should exercise caution when purchasing Keys on the secondary market to ensure they are purchasing unused Keys.
Unlock rewards with NFTs
Some restricted zones in Alpha Season 4 offer tasks that provide immediate SAND rewards. These zones are located in the Alpha 4 Season Hub and require a Hub Partner Pass to access them. These NFTs are given for players who own the Alpha Pass and progress through the Alpha Season 4 Battle Pass by earning EP.
