Valve has announced a up-to-date white and gray variant of its extremely popular portable PC device, the so-called Steam deck. This upcoming version of the notebook will cost $680 and go on sale on November 18.
We’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: Valve The Steam Deck is an amazing piece of hardware. It’s the best and cheapest notebook on the market, and since its launch in 2022, it’s quickly inspired imitators and changed the way people play games. But the original Steam deck it was only available in one color: black. Boring. We need something up-to-date and fresh. Valve is ready to provide this with its newly unveiled white and gray Steam deck.
November 11Valve has announced a restricted edition all-white OLED Steam Deck. The device will be available in all Steam Deck shipping regions, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Australia.
This up-to-date version The Steam Deck has the same specifications as the previously existing OLEDincluding 1TB of storage, but also comes with a white case and cleaning cloth.
Valve warns that this model will be a restricted edition device and that it has no plans to produce any more white Steam Decks after this batch is released. “When we get sold out, we get sold out.” Valve explained in an information post about the device.
To purchase the up-to-date all-white Steam Deck, you must have a Steam account in good standing with at least one purchase made before November 2024. Accounts are restricted to pre-ordering one device only.
Valve explained Eurogamer that this up-to-date version of Steam Deck is another experiment offering different variants to people around the world.
“Last year we released a smoked, translucent, restricted edition Steam Deck OLED as an experiment to see if there was interest in alternative colors (there was!). This is our second experiment in this direction,” Valve said.
As someone who was planning to wait to update my Steam deck until the next major release, this all-white option makes it harder to stick to that commitment.
