Baldur’s Gate 3 improvements revealed for PS5 Pro

Published:

Baldur’s Gate 3 creator Larian Studios has confirmed what graphical improvements the Dungeons & Dragons RPG has received ahead of the PlayStation 5 Pro launch.

Running said Improved game quality and performance modes “to achieve crisp graphics on console without sacrificing smooth performance.”

“Fiddle with the settings to find the perfect pixel set for you!” added the studio.

On PS5 Pro, quality mode runs at native 4K resolution and 30 frames per second, while performance mode increases the resolution from 1440p to 2160p at 60 frames per second. Meanwhile, split screen on PS5 Pro will now offer either 30fps or 60fps, depending on whether you’re using Quality or Performance mode.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is seeing particular interest on PS5 Pro, given the game’s initial performance issues on the base PS5. Act 3 in particular, with its dense city area filled with NPCs, caused issues with game flow. Performance has improved through various updates, but clearly the PS5 Pro will be the platform of choice when it comes to the console.

In addition to the Baldur’s Gate 3 update on PS5 Pro, there is a “quick” fix for multiplayer, detailed in the patch notes below:

Baldur’s Gate 3 multiplayer patch and fix for PS5 Pro:

IMPROVEMENTS

  • On PS5 Pro, quality mode now runs at native 4K (2160p) resolution and 30 frames per second.
  • On PS5 Pro, Performance Mode will scale from 1440p to 2160p at 60 frames per second.
  • Split screen on PS5 Pro will now offer either 30 or 60 frames per second, depending on whether you’re using Quality or Performance mode.

FAILURES AND BLOCKS

  • Fixed an issue on PS5 that prevented you from downloading or subscribing to mods when loading into another player’s multiplayer game with mods enabled.

Larian, of course, said he was moving away from Baldur’s Gate and the world of Dungeons & Dragons to create something completely fresh. However, it continues to update Baldur’s Gate 3 and announces further updates.

The $700 PS5 Pro launches today, November 7, and there’s a long list of games with improvements in the mid-gen update. For more information, check out IGN’s PS5 Pro review.
