The latest major update to Apex Legends, From The Rift, turns back the clock to the beginning of 2019 with the novel Launch Royale mode, allowing you to play on the original map, original selection of Legends, weapons and loot, and original balancing gameplay. But that’s not all this update offers.

As a limited-time mode, Launch Royale is a step back to the origins of the game, which has evolved and changed a lot since 2019 – a time when Battle Royale still felt quite cutting-edge. All characters released since then have been phased out, you no longer have EVO Armor or Skill Upgrades, and you get what many would consider pure experience.

Old players will be able to jump back into the early meta of weapons, strategies, and drop points, but there are some incentives beyond that. Triggering Royale Challenges will unlock Legends, earn rewards including Apex Packs, and more.

Additionally, the original medic and healer character, Lifeline, will also be reborn this season. In addition to Launch Royale, she will have a novel set that includes teleporting a healing drone directly to allies and dropping a circular healing force field.

There are also Rift Relics that can be recovered from strange portals, containing overpowered weapons and power-up kits that will give you a real advantage in the match, as well as a novel universal, character-independent melee, Raptor Claw. This can be unlocked in the Void Mercenary Store from now until January 7,
