Apex Legends turns back the clock to 2019 with the release of Launch Royale

Published:

We’ve come this far, and there’s still a lot ahead of us. Apex Legends From the Rift turns back the clock with the nostalgic modern LTM Launch Royale mode, transports you to the original version of World’s Edge, revitalizes Lifeline to modern limits, and rekindles that first-drop feeling from the first season. It all starts on November 5, 2024, including support for PlayStation 5 Pro when the console launches on November 7.

Let’s launch Royale

It’s 2019, Apex Legends has just launched, Kings Canyon is the wild frontier, and battle royales have never been the same. This modern LTM mode will take you straight to the original experience, complete with everything original: weapons, legends, skills, ruleset and map. Complete Launch Royale challenges to unlock Legends and earn rewards such as Apex Packs and more.

Evo armor and skill upgrades? No, not here. Just a blast from the past for those who were here on day one and a whole modern experience for those who missed out. There’s never been a better time to jump in and see where Legends were born.

The lifeline came alive

“We are in this together. I remember that.

Lifeline’s habit of getting caught up in tumultuous events may have caught up with you, but she always has your back. It’s the Ajay Che you know and love, now fully revitalized, energized and ready to jump into action with her aggressive modern kit:

  • Combat Glide: Hold air jump to employ DOC to briefly glide, then employ DOC to revive teammates, leaving Lifeline free to defend.
  • DOC Heal Drone: DOC heals nearby allies. DOC may be assigned to follow allies once deployed.
  • DOC Halo: Cast DOC to activate the Halo shield system. All players inside employ Health and Shield consumables faster.

A good support never gets sidetracked. And this lifeline? She doesn’t just save lives – she fights her way to the Champions’ podium.

Relics of the Rift

Rising from an unstable Rift in the sky, Rift Relics disrupt our reality, bringing enviable items from seemingly nowhere. Equip the EPG-1 Launcher with splash damage and rocket jumping capabilities, and unleash exotic Hop-Ups like Life Steal that heals on every hit. If survival is your game plan, look out for a modern survival item: Booster Kits.

Rift Relics will spawn spontaneously over multiple rounds of each match. But be quick. They are uncomplicated to detect for both allies and enemies. Whoever gets there first will be rewarded with the destruction of the Rift Relic, and their presence will be announced to the entire area. From there it’s all fun and games until the Ringworld begins – and the objects in the rift may be more stable than they appear.

Support Class Perks

Our next class will receive a set of bonuses. Legends in the Support class will now have their own duo of perks to choose from to expand their areas of expertise: Healing Expert and Resurrection Expert. There are no wrong choices here – just follow your instincts and cure it later.

Healing expert

  • Move at full walking speed during treatment
  • The amount of treatment with tiny drugs is doubled

Revival expert

  • 25% faster revival and health regeneration after a successful revival
  • Banner Crafting and allied Death Chests now create a mobile spawn beacon (which Support Legends will be able to see inside)

Support Legends will retain access to their extended supply containers, but there will be some updates to their upgrades, and banner crafting will now be available to all Legends.

New Universal Melee: Raptor Claw

Up the ante with the modern Raptor Claw. This universal melee cosmetic item can be used by any Legend to add some sparkle when defeating an enemy. Grab the newest addition to your collection in the Void Mercenary Store until January 7, 2025. Once you acquire this karambit-style weapon, you can unlock the Crystal Chamber Death Box, as well as 5 other deadly variants and their corresponding Death Boxes.

Play Apex Legends for free* now on PS5 and PS4, now with support for PlayStation 5 Pro when the console launches on November 7.

*Applicable platform account and platform subscription (sold separately) may be required. Constant internet connection and EA account required. Age restrictions apply. Includes in-game purchases.
