This is a challenging deck that requires either extreme luck or an excessive amount of Pack Points to craft the cards, considering we need two former Blastoises. Although in this guide we have offered some alternative Pokemon to utilize while you wait to build your dream deck the best Blastoise deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
The best Blastoise Pokemon TCG Pocket deck
This Blastoise ex deck is one of the best Water-type decks currently available in the Pokemon TCG Pocket, and the costly combination of Starmie ex and Articuno ex is the only Water-type deck that I would suggest is better.
That said, this deck is still costly to build, considering you need two former Blastoises to get the most out of it, and these cards are strenuous to come by naturally. That said, we’ve offered alternative Pokemon cards below that should assist you get through most of the available solo battles without breaking the bank.
With any luck, the Package Hourglasses you earn in these battles may be the last few cards you need!
For this Blastoise ex deck you need the cards listed below, but there is room to replace cards you don’t have with alternatives. More on this below!
- 2x Squirtle
- 2x Dobrzertle
- 2x Blastoise e.g
- 1x Lapras e.g
- 1x Meowth
- 2x X speed
- 2x Misty
- 2x Sabrina
- 2x Professor’s Research
- 1x Potion
- 1x Poke Ball
In this Blastoise deck we utilize ex-Lapras promotional cards, which – with any luck – you should get during the ex-Lapras event. If you don’t have this card, you can always replace it Articuno e.g if you have it, or replace Lapras ex and Meowth with both Staryu and Starmie ex if you have them instead.
I decided on Meowth in hopes of drawing them sooner. If so, we can utilize Meowth to draw additional cards in hopes of getting the entire Blastoise evolution chain and can start putting Energy on them. We also have Professor’s Research, which helps us draw the cards we need, and Misty – which is imperative in any Water-type deck – which helps us accumulate Energy on our main Pokemon.
If you prefer not to play Lapras ex and/or Meowth, you may want to consider that as well Magikarp and Gyarados. Gyarados is unfortunately costly to utilize, considering its main move requires four Energy, but it discards the Energy of the opponent’s Active Pokemon, which can be useful.
Tentacool and Tentacruel can also be considered a less energy-intensive choice, considering that Tentacruel can damage and poison opponents with only two Energy attached. If it doesn’t work out, there is Psyduck and Golduckwhich deals 70 damage with only two Energy. These are by no means the best picks, but they will certainly get the job done while you wait for better cards to be created or opened!
For our Trainer Cards, we opted for two X-Speeds to minimize our Pokemon’s Retreat Cost, given that we may need to quickly swap out Meowth – or any alternate Pokemon we’re using – for a main Pokemon like Blastoise. Worst case scenario, we can also utilize this to make Blastoise back off and prevent our opponent from getting two reward points.
Sabrina is a solid choice for most decks, considering that it forces the opponent to switch their busy Pokemon, which can save our own Pokemon from some devastating attacks. Finally, we also added Potion and Poke Ball. The Potion can assist heal a Meowth or Squirtle when needed and keep them from getting knocked out occasionally, while a Poke Ball can assist us ensure that Meowth, Squirtle and/or Lapras are available and on our bench.
