Reports say that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not receive expansions as BioWare moves on to the next Mass Effect

Published:

According to reports, BioWare currently has no plans for expansions for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Instead, the studio will support the fantasy RPG with smaller updates and will otherwise focus all its attention on Mass Effect 5.

Rolling Stone report that there are no plans for DLC, in favor of focusing on the next Mass Effect, in an interview with Bioware’s artistic director, John Epler.

While Rolling Stone doesn’t confirm any specific details, IGN report that they understand that BioWare intends to release quality-of-life and minor content updates for The Veilguard, but nothing more.

BioWare has traditionally supported its games with extensive story DLC. The previous game in the series, Inquisition, spawned several, including Jaws Of Hakkon, The Descent, and the epilogue, Trespasser.

That said, making video games is harder than ever, and it took Nic 50 hours to write this review of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Personally, I don’t mind that story-driven games are complete at launch and don’t get a few unnecessary bottle episodes and really real post-credits endings after release.

(Except for Cyberpunk 2077, which I would love to have ten more expansions in development with Idris Elba looking at me sadly.)
