Monster Hunter Wilds players have come across wild Low-Poly monsters and are now posting their favorites

On Thursday, Capcom officially released the Monster Hunter Wilds beta to everyone, and some players are finding that the game’s creatures are a bit… flat.

The Monster Hunter series is known for many things, but its history of delivering innovative, detailed monsters is certainly one of its greatest attractions. While the next major entry in the series, Wilds, will certainly be no different when it launches early next year, those who jumped into its pre-release beta yesterday are finding that the monsters don’t look quite as they expected. In particular, many creatures these days have low-poly models that make them look like they just jumped straight out of a PS1 game.

It’s unclear what exactly is causing these low-poly monsters to attack the Monster Hunter Wilds beta, but it seems PC players are the most affected. While an issue this widespread may bother gamers who have just purchased the completed game, there are those who can’t lend a hand but enjoy this visual glitch during this pre-launch test. Many, including X/Twitter user @khitwins, took the opportunity to compile their findings post thread while asking others to do the same. Reddit user 5centipersekunda took it a step further by creating fan art depicting a monster that looks more like a futuristic motorcycle.

The monsters are an absolute hit – and it gets funnier as you scroll – but the angular models aren’t constrained to everyone’s favorite creatures that everyone hunts. Hunters and even fish have also contracted the polygon virus, and players have also found more than a few cases of flat people wandering around Monster Hunter Wilds.

For now, Capcom has not commented on the glitch. Let’s hope a fix arrives before launch.
