It just happens. Nintendo constantly announces various products and projects that are not the Switch 2, at a specific time when everyone expects Nintendo to announce the Switch 2. Rightly or wrongly, fans and reporters alike have been keeping an eye on it since May, when Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa published a post ad on X (formerly Twitter) on the timing of the next console announcement, writing: “We will announce the successor to the Nintendo Switch this fiscal year.”
The thing is, Nintendo’s fiscal year actually ends only on March 31, 2025. And yet, fans and industry experts know it would make sense for the company to announce its recent hardware before then, even if it doesn’t happen available until the first quarter of 2025
So we were all wondering: Will the announcement come in June, when so many other gaming announcements usually come out? Of course that didn’t happen. Perhaps there will be a sneak peek of the console behind closed doors at Gamescom or at the Tokyo Game Show? No, it didn’t happen.
This last month especially made me doubt everything. This is what all happened Other Nintendo Announcements. A few weeks ago, recent Nintendo hardware was announced – and it’s an alarm clock! Oh, okay. Then a mysterious Nintendo test was leaked — and while it sounds cold, Nintendo’s entry into the MMO business says nothing about the direction of the company’s hardware going forward. On Wednesday evening, gossip mongers encouraged fans to see a recent Nintendo announcement on the horizon, which turned out to be… the Nintendo Music application.
Third time’s the charm – now it’s fun. I don’t care about the Switch 2 anymore. (Yes, I know.) It’s okay if that happens! I am enjoy that’s right. (I’m not.) Not even to want play Metroid Prime 4 no more. (I don’t want anything else.) I don’t even care if it’s a Switch 2 launch title.
(Is this what it is? I need to know. Please. Just tell me this. Is it what it is? Does any of these things even exist? Was it all just a dream? Will I hear the alarm any moment?)
