Amazon and Games Workshop have revealed modern details about the Secret Level episode of Warhammer 40,000, confirming that it is a sequel to the recently released Space Marine 2.

Secret Level is an animated anthology consisting of 15 stand-alone episodes, each based on a game. It was created by the creators of the animated Netflix anthology series “Love, Death & Robots”, and is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on December 10.

Perhaps most intriguing is the Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode’s link to Saber Interactive’s record-breaking Space Marine 2 game. Firstly, Games Workshop has confirmed the return of actor Clive Standen as Ultramarines Lieutenant Titus, the game’s main character.

“Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 players have already encountered the iconic character of Lieutenant Titus in the first trailer released in August,” Games Workshop said. “Today it was confirmed that the stalwart Clive Standen will reprise his leading role as the voice of Titus in this new animation.”

Games Workshop then confirmed that the Secret Level animation is a “sequel to Space Marine 2”, even going so far as to tease that it is a direct continuation of the events of the game’s campaign.

“Yes, that’s Titus and what’s that fancy laurel on his helmet?” Game Workshop said. “If you’ve completed the game, you already know! This animation follows the ending of a video game like… a secret level.

Warning! There are spoilers for Space Marine 2 below.

What could this mean? Space Marine 2 ends with Titus being vindicated for joining forces with Ultramarines Chapter Master Marneus Calgar to defeat the forces of Chaos. Calgar gives Titus a modern helmet adorned with the Imperial Laurel and summons him to undertake a mysterious mission. This is probably where Secret Level begins. Secret Level hits Prime Video on December 10 and will feature episodes based on everything from Sony’s Concord to Epic’s Unreal. The Warhammer 40,000 episode features in the first salvo along with seven others. The rest of the series will be released a week later, on December 17.

As for continuing the Space Marine 2 story in video game form, Saber remains coy about the possibility of adding DLC to the campaign, although she admits she already has ideas for the seemingly inevitable Space Marine 3.
