The up-to-date horror game from the creators of the Silent Hill 2 remake is a time travel through apocalyptic Eastern Europe

During yesterday’s Xbox Partner Preview, Bloober Team announced their next horror game. It’s called Cronos: The New Dawn and it’s about – please bear with me – traveling to the past, collecting souls, and then going to the future so they can assist you. It’s all because you want to, um, find a special split in… futureso you can go back to a special version of the past. I think so. Anyway, yes, it looks pretty good.

Cronos takes place in a “grim world”, based on the brutalism of Eastern Europe and mixed with “retrofuturistic technology”. From the trailer, it appears that you play as a commando from Risk Of Rain who has apparently joined the Collective, a time-hopping organization that wants to explore the future for ways to return to “1980s Poland.”

Now part of the game takes place in the past, which is undergoing a Change: a cataclysm of some nature. And when you jump into the future, you will see the results – you have created a world ravaged by terrible, escaping demons.

In the trailer, Commando is seen playing speed chess with an elderly lady before Commando goes after Edward Scissorhands and presumably takes her brain. This is because you will have to bring people from the past to the future to assist you discover these cracks and survive, although we don’t know much else. Otherwise, most survival and exploration seems to be done with your trusty sidearm, from Resi’s perspective, usually carried over the shoulder.

And this is your fate. I will say that right away Cronos gives me double A energy and I think that’s good. It has a name that immediately brings to mind 7/10, where it will be a bit witty, but will contain some captivating ideas and a amusing gimmick.

You can find the end of the game Couple and will be released sometime next year. Also, it’s not related to Chronos From The Ashes, a mediocre Soulslike game that I reviewed shortly after joining RPS and has such a similar name that it keeps getting stuck in my head.
