Samsung has started announcing a special event scheduled for October 21, and it looks like it will be dedicated to its unannounced foldable phone. If you’ve been following the latest gossip, you shouldn’t be too surprised; it looks like Special edition of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 finally arrives.
Samsung posted an announcement on its Korean website that reads: “The new Galaxy is coming with another innovation.” He also shared a video teaser showing the invitation being delivered in an envelope. We’ve already seen plenty of innovation from the brand this year, with devices like the Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra in our guide to the best Samsung phones benefiting from fresh AI capabilities and advanced display technology.
In the promotional clip, a slim, foldable phone slides out of an envelope and the words “You’re invited” appear on the screen. Normally, this would be a pretty cryptic teaser, but after numerous leaks and rumors, it’s pretty clear that the special edition Z Fold 6 will be the main focus at this event.
In case you haven’t been keeping up, reports suggest that the Z Fold 6 Special Edition is a fresh, thinner and larger version of the Z Fold 6, one of the best foldable phones of the last twelve months. It will reportedly have a 6.5-inch external display and an 8-inch foldable panel, and when folded it will be just 10.6mm bulky. Other rumors say that this phone may inherit the 200MP main camera from the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and may have a shallower curve on the foldable display.
But before you get too excited, it looks like this fresh foldable will only be released in China and Korea, and we’re not sure if a global launch is expected. This is an unusual move for Samsung, but we’re always content to see hardware innovations emerge, and importing is always an option for collectors.
