It’s been an absolutely colossal week for recent physical game releases, with Silent Hill 2 and Dragon Ball: Sparking at least in the UK! The biggest winners were Zero, who took second and third place respectively. Metaphor: ReFantazio also did really well, debuting in seventh place.
As is always the case with the UK charts, we must emphasize that this only represents a tiny part of the market. It was recently reported that a whopping 75% of UK games are now sold digitally, so we’re looking at around 25% of the market here.
Still, while the ubiquitous EA Sports FC 25 couldn’t be beaten at number one – with an overwhelming 71% of units sold on PS5 and PS4 – it’s really great to see the recent games doing well. Also worthy of special attention is the debut boxing simulator Undisputed by Steel City Interactive, which debuted quietly in fifth place.
While we don’t yet have sales figures for Silent Hill 2, we do know that Metaphor: ReFantazio sold one million copies worldwide on launch, although Atlus combined shipped physical units and sold digital copies to determine that milestone. Meanwhile, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero sold three million copies worldwide in 24 hours.
