Three Call of Duty games, including Black Ops 6, are coming to Xbox Cloud Gaming this month

Published:

On Monday, Microsoft announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) for Game Pass Ultimate members at launch, along with two other Call of Duty titles later this month.

According to Microsoft blog postBlack Ops 6 will begin rolling out to Xbox Cloud Gaming at 10 a.m. PT on October 25, the same day Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone gain cloud support for Game Pass Ultimate members. Microsoft notes in the blog post that this is “the first game in the Call of Duty series,” marking the first time a Call of Duty title is available on Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available from day one on the Xbox Cloud Gaming platform.

Interestingly, Microsoft sold Activision’s cloud gaming rights to Ubisoft, a key step in the takeover process through the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Therefore, there was no guarantee that Black Ops 6 would be available on Xbox Cloud Gaming. Other major Activision Blizzard King titles, including Diablo 4, are still not available on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Those who want to play the three Call of Duty games via the cloud will need to subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate, and the games will be available on consoles, PC, mobile devices, select Samsung TV, Amazon Fire TV and Meta Quest devices. “This opens up even more ways to play Black Ops 6 from day one,” writes Ashley McKissick, corporate vice president of gaming experiences and platforms at Microsoft, in a blog post.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S at launch on October 25, and will be the first mainline Call of Duty game to hit Game Pass on Day One. In the meantime, check out our breakdown of all the substantial changes coming to multiplayer, based on feedback from the beta.
