Destiny first came into our lives in 2014, taking the hearts of gamers around the world by storm with the fun online-only content and enjoyable DLC that helped catapult Bungie’s FPS game to fame. In 2019, Bungie released its sequel, Destiny 2, and numerous updates and expansions continue to support the series flourish. Many have been wondering when Destiny 3 will be released – well, we already know what the third game will be. The Rise of Destiny.
There were rumors about a Destiny mobile game earlier this year, and it looks like they were right. Licensed by Bungie and developed by NetEase, Geoff Keighly presented the game on Xoffering some tidbits about what we can expect from the upcoming mobile shooter. Destiny Rising is not only an FPS game that will certainly please some players, but it also offers third-person gameplay options.
Longtime fans of the series may be particularly interested in the fact that this game is set after the Dark Age and takes place in an alternate timeline. Referring to this story, Keighley says: “With the support of the legendary Iron Lords, humanity has broken free from the shackles of tyranny and begun to rally against the alien forces that seek its extinction. Amidst the chaos of this early period in the City, a novel generation of Light Bearers, resurrected by mysterious beings called Spirits, set out to restore humanity’s standing and secure its future.
The multiplayer closed alpha test is scheduled to take place next month, and like the main Destiny games, you can enjoy both PvE and PvP content – oh, the melting pot. I don’t think I’ve ever been humbled by a multiplayer arena so quickly in my life, but I loved it and hope to see it in a mobile game. There is also a full campaign for you to enjoy and I think you can easily complete it alone or with friends like the other two games.
While we don’t know much else about Destiny Rising, it’s great to see such a beloved series make its way to the diminutive screen. I love Call of Duty. Being able to play Black Ops on mobile devices at launch is a huge win, but after years of experience with COD Mobile, it’s time for another shooter to hit the market.
