You naturally unlock the ability to test your royal virtues by simply playing the game. In the prologue, you go to the mine with Grius and Strohl and meet your favorite author, More.

From here you can test your Royal Virtues by doing your thing in the world. If you’re not in a dungeon or cutscene, you can press the button at the bottom of the screen to watch your crown grow into your role as ruler.

You can also talk to them in the outside world and see a virtue icon with a number next to it. Informs you of the unlock status required to proceed.

Your first chance to enhance your Eloquence will come when you set off from Grand Trad on your fancy fresh Gauntlet Runner. If you check the living room, you will see a bookcase placed in the back right corner.

As you progress through the game and add fresh members to your squad, fresh books will appear on the shelves. As it happens Pride and persuasion it’s one of the first books you automatically collect, and it’s ready as soon as you hit the road.

As you move between towns and dungeons, you can usually perform one action, such as talking to a party member and increasing their friendship, cooking, cleaning, or reading a book.

Each book will take you two or three sessions to read, and completing it will give you a huge and free enhance in your Virtue stats.

The fastest way to enhance your eloquence level is unlocked shortly after the start of the royal competition. Go to King’s Rock and search raised platform where you would normally see a screamer like Batlin in a cutscene.

During the Brilehaven portion of the game, other claimants to the throne will occasionally jump on and begin preaching to the masses. These are fantastic opportunities for four reasons:

  1. Beating them in a debate increases your eloquence…
  2. It also stimulates the imagination…
  3. Giving you a cash prize of 5,000 reeves…
  4. And who doesn’t like to knock their enemies to the ground?

If you see someone on stage, save your game and then jump on stage to give your opponent a beating.

You’ll be asked to choose a response to what your opponent says – unlike the Persona games, which really test your knowledge of everything from kanji to mathematical theories, here the answer is pretty obvious. Re-read the conversation log if necessary, but just choose the answer that best suits your character.

For example, if someone says, “Only the strong can live in my society,” you say, “I believe everyone should be treated equally.”

If done correctly, Gallica will praise you for wiping the floor with your opponent. However, if it crashes and says you screwed up, just load the game and try again! Your reward is a massive stat boost, a few grand, and the pride that comes with crushing your enemies.

It is also worth noting that if there is no one to argue with, you can still go on stage and address the masses you adore; you just don’t get the imagination or monetary bonus that comes with a full-blown debate.

Learning from friends

Reading books is not the only way to enhance your EQ while riding the Gauntlet Runner. Once you leave Brilehaven, you will unlock a fresh party member who is particularly fluent.

When you keep your Gauntlet Runner overnight, you’ll have the opportunity to spend time on board with it while increasing your Eloquence.

Since this is one of the few recurring ways to enhance your eloquence outside of city debates, you should choose it over other virtues when traveling.

If you are in the end game and haven’t reached your maximum eloquence yet, we highly recommend watching the show. Since the end of September, the Opera House in Altabury has been staging five propaganda performances in support of the Sanktist Church. Everyone will raise a given attribute for the princely sum of 1,500 mayors.

In this case you want to watch Stripling and its managers – the story of a clever boy who sets out to eradicate some monsters. Listening to the boy’s skillful negotiations will assist you improve your Eloquence to seven points.

More specifically, it unlocks the ability to unlock Heroic Embodiment for other party members.

The other two unlocking requirements are, of course, for a party member to reach Friendship Rank 8, and then the challenging task of unlocking and leveling up the appropriate Archetypes for each character. Good Lord, it costs a lot of MAG…

It just so happens that getting your party members to rank 8 also depends on your ability to max out your royal virtues, with each requiring their own level. The last companion to join your party will need Eloquence at level 5 to become a follower at level 8.
