NYT Connections today (game #483) – answers
The answers for today’s Connections game, #483, are…
- YELLOW: TURN YOUR TAIL RUN, WALK AWAY, BACK AWAY, BACK AWAY
- GREEN: THINGS CATS DO Knead, purr, scratch, wipe
- BLUE: WEBSITE PAGES ABOUT US, CONTACT, HOME PAGE, LOGIN
- PURPLE: ___ CHEESE HOUSE, CREAM, GOAT, LINE
- My rating: Easy
- My result: Perfect
I like cats, I like cheese and I work on a website, so I was in a good place to solve today’s Connections, where all three were presented in groups. That said, I was the first to solve the yellow group of TURN TAIL with ESCAPE, GET OUT, BACK AWAY, and BACK OUT, which was perhaps unsurprising given that it was quite straightforward and consisted only of synonyms.
The rest were technically more challenging. Green – THINGS CATS DO – came to mind early on, in connection with PURR and SCRATCH. Kneading made sense too, but I couldn’t find the fourth one. I almost guessed that CREAM or STRING was associated with cats, but it didn’t quite match the other three. And then I finally realized that SHED could also be a verb, and that’s when everything fell into place.

What are NYT calls?
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. The task is to find groups of four items that have something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is simple, yellow is slightly more challenging, blue is often quite challenging, and purple is usually very challenging.
The advantage is that you technically don’t have to solve the last one because you will be able to answer it by process of elimination. What’s more, you can make as many as four mistakes, which gives you some slack.
However, it’s a little more complicated than something like Wordle, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to throw you into tricks. For example, watch out for homophones and other wordplay that can unrecognized answers.
You can play it for free via NYT Gaming Site on your desktop computer or mobile phone.
