Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 and its upcoming expansion Vessel of Hatred will be enhanced on PS5 Pro. This is the first Microsoft game with confirmed improved support for Sony’s $700 mid-gen upgrade.
Microsoft owns all of Activision Blizzard’s franchises after acquiring the company for $69 billion in 2023, and has since added a number of the company’s games to its Game Pass subscription service. Diablo 4 is available on Game Pass, although not in the Standard version.
Diablo boss Rod Fergusson confirmed wa’s support tweetwithout adding any details like when the game will be updated or what players can expect on PS5 Pro. “I am very proud of our hard-working team who contributed to this,” added Fergusson. “More details at a later date.” The PS5 Pro console itself will debut on November 7, and the Vessel of Hatred expansion will be released next week.
According to fans who keep an eye on the PlayStation Store, over 60 games are expected to be enhanced on PS5 Pro (IGN has a list of all the confirmed PS5 Pro Enhanced games so far). These games can be identified by the PS5 Pro Enhanced label in the title.
The PS5 Pro has an AI-based upscaling feature called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) that can automatically improve image clarity in games, but PS5 Pro Enhanced games especially take advantage of the more powerful console’s features.
During the recent PS5 Pro announcement presentation, we spoke with the technical leads of some of PlayStation’s biggest games, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part 2, to discuss the improvements we can expect now that the more powerful PS5 console is coming. on the market.
Tim Willits, original director of Saber Interactive, said in an interview with IGN hopes that PS5 Pro will enhance Space Marine 2 by default via PSSRbut I have not confirmed the enhanced update for PS5 Pro.
