The Big Star Wars Outlaws patch fixes a long list of launch issues

Ubisoft has released a massive update for Outlaws from Star Wars on Thursday, addressing a long list of complaints about the open-world Star Wars game as a first step toward it previously announced action plan to improve the game. If you haven’t finished yet Outlaws from Star Wars however – maybe because you’re annoyed by the game’s iffy stealth and speed-up mechanics – this patch may be just for you.

Update 1.2 for Outlaws from Star Wars improves the stealth experience “by adjusting AI detection, number of NPCs and their locations, patrol routing, camera detection, and emphasis on environmental capabilities to reduce player friction,” it claims Ubisoft patch notes. Kay Vess is also less likely to be detected when using cover.

Kay’s speeder should also be much more enjoyable to drive. Ubisoft says the update improves the speeder’s camera position, improves the speeder’s responsiveness and response to calls, and improves collision detection with the environment “to reduce the risk of being thrown off the speeder.” In other words, the tiny rocks were weakened.

The rest of the game’s patch notes highlight a long list of much-needed improvements Outlaws from Star Warsincluding eliminating some game-breaking and simply annoying bugs. There are also some presentation changes, such as updated animations after knockdowns and updated melee animation after Kay hits a helmeted opponent.

Outlaws from Star Wars was criticized at launch for bugs and performance issues. Additional updates, including quality of life updates, are scheduled for October 24 and November 21. Ubisoft also introduces Outlaws from Star Wars on Steam on November 21st, and promises more updates to the game’s stealth mechanics that day.

“Far too many hidden missions involve a ‘don’t get caught’ or ‘don’t let the alarm go off’ failure state that, due to a lack of tools, is maddeningly easy to accidentally trip over,” wrote critic Todd Harper in a review.
