I’ve been known to enjoy some lovely Flan from time to time! So when I saw Flanastic Cafe Run with the adorable mascot Flancisco, I wanted to play this game! It’s a fairly plain formula – a two-track runner-style game where you have to collect lots of diminutive ingredients for fruit.
Being at IndieDevDayI had the opportunity to play Flanastic Cafe Run, where the creator told me that the story of the game is that the flan is fed up with looking plain. The flans themselves have no fun fruit, sprinkles or color. When Flancisco was finally purchased, he was so wobbly that he fell onto a conveyor belt.
As a player, you must swipe between two bars to keep the flan from flying off the screen. There are plenty of other desserts on the conveyor belt. You’ll have the option of skipping medium-sized or small-sized desserts, but high ones like ice cream and pancakes should simply be avoided.
There are plenty of things that should not be avoided; ingredients! You will have to come across mint leaves, berries, sprinkles, milk and more. These ingredients are then saved, regardless of how long the baking time is, so they can be used to bake fresh crusts and dessert decorations. The way you unlock them, based on the items you collect, is quite fun and gives you a lot to achieve.
Flatastic Cafe Run also has another job to do that gives you more goals if you play for them. It wasn’t possible to complete all three in the demo I played, so I’m not sure if you get the extra ingredients, but it’s still fun to challenge yourself.
Flantastic Cafe Run is a plain game combined with cute graphics and engaging ways to unlock fresh items for a fantastic experience. And it’s completely free. The premiere will take place on October 4 for Android devices.
