Skateboarder Tony Hawk Jokes He’s Working With Activision on ‘Something Fans Will Really Appreciate’

Remember Tony Hawk, the skater and star of many video games that were staple experiences for you and your buddies — assuming you grew up with dreams of competing in the X Games and having Rage Against The Machine play at your medal afterparty? Well, he just hinted at plans to celebrate the original Pro Skater’s 25th birthday, apparently with the assist of Activision.

Speaking on Mythical Kitchen, a YouTube cooking show that gives you exactly the video game information you’d expect (thanks Very good), Hawk was asked what’s next for the Pro Skater series ahead of its September 29th anniversary, and admitted that he and Activision are in talks again.

“I wish I could tell you more, but I can tell you I’ve been talking to Activision again, which is incredibly exciting. We’re working on something,” Hawk said over a plate of Chinese chicken salad and spaghetti bolognese at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

“This is the first time I’ve said it publicly,” he added. “I think the fans will appreciate it.” Hawk also ruled out the idea that contact lenses make you skate like him, so there you have it.

“The truth is they were trying to find someone to do 3+4, but they just didn’t trust anyone like they did with Vicarious,” Birdfellow continued, “So they took pitches from other studios, like ‘what would you do with a THPS title?’ and they didn’t like what they heard, and that was it.”
